Compounding funding income on Kraken
Kraken pays or charges funding every hour. Reinvesting that income back into your position (rather than withdrawing it) compounds your capital the same way reinvested interest does, at Kraken's prevailing rate.
Because Kraken settles funding 24 times a day, small rate differences compound faster than a daily or weekly funding schedule would. This calculator projects capital growth over your chosen holding period at a given reinvestment rate.
Kraken fee structure
Kraken charges maker fee 0.02% and taker fee 0.05% on perpetual futures. Maximum available leverage is 50×. This calculator pre-fills these defaults so you get accurate results without needing to look up the fee schedule. If you are on a VIP tier with discounted fees, adjust the fee fields accordingly.
Maker orders (limit orders that add liquidity) cost less than taker orders (market orders that remove liquidity). On Kraken, using limit orders for both entry and exit can reduce your total fee cost significantly compared to market orders.

Reinvesting perpetual futures funding income back into the position each interval, so subsequent earnings compound on a larger base instead of being withdrawn.
How is annualized APY calculated?
APY = ((Final Capital + Withdrawn) / Initial Capital)^(365 / Days) − 1, withdrawn funding counted as earned. Example on the common 8h funding schedule: a 0.01% rate with 100% reinvestment over 30 days yields roughly 11.6% APY - an hourly-funding exchange compounds on more, smaller periods per day instead.
What are Kraken perpetual futures fees?
Kraken charges maker fee 0.02% and taker fee 0.05%. Maximum leverage is 50×. This calculator uses these defaults but you can adjust them for your actual rate tier.
Is this calculator specific to Kraken?
Yes, the exchange is pre-selected to Kraken with live prices pulled from their API. You can switch to any other supported exchange using the instrument selector.
