Forex Currency Converter
FOREX · CURRENCY CONVERSION · LIVE FX RATE
Convert between any two currencies with a live FX rate: TrueFX for majors, frankfurter.app as the fallback. Always shows which source priced it.
3-letter currency codes, e.g. USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF.
How this converter works
Two live sources, picked automatically: TrueFX for its 10 quoted major pairs (genuinely live top-of-book tick data, updating by the second), and frankfurter.app as the fallback for every other currency (a daily ECB reference rate, published once per business day around 16:00 CET). The result tells you which source actually priced your conversion, so you know whether you're looking at a live tick or a daily reference rate.
The formula
- Converted amount = amount × rate
- Rate = 1 unit of the source currency, expressed in the target currency
Worked example
Converting $1,000 to EUR at a live rate of 0.8650:
- 1,000 × 0.8650 = €865.00
Why the source matters
A live tick and a daily reference rate can differ meaningfully during a fast-moving session. Most currency converters online don't tell you which kind of rate they're showing you. This one always does, so you can judge how stale the number might be before you act on it.
Where to go next
Sizing a forex position in an account currency that doesn't match the pair's quote currency? Use the Position Size Calculator or the Margin Required Calculator to get the same live-converted numbers built in.
Use via API or MCP
This calculation is available as a deterministic API call for bots and AI agents.
Which currencies does this support?
TrueFX quotes 10 major pairs live (EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD, EUR/GBP, USD/CHF, EUR/JPY, EUR/CHF, USD/CAD, AUD/USD, GBP/JPY, and their reverses). For anything else, frankfurter.app covers 30 currencies including most majors and several emerging-market currencies (not Russian ruble or Chinese yuan).
Is this rate live or delayed?
Depends which source priced your conversion, shown under the result. TrueFX is genuinely live tick data. frankfurter.app is a daily reference rate published once per business day by the European Central Bank, not intraday.
Why does the rate look slightly different from my broker's?
Every broker and data source adds its own small spread around the true interbank rate. TrueFX's rate here is the mid-price between its live bid and ask, a fair reference point, not a tradeable quote with a broker's markup included.
Can I convert a cryptocurrency?
No, this converter is fiat-to-fiat only (forex majors and frankfurter.app's ECB-tracked currencies). For crypto conversions, use TradingCalc's crypto calculators, which price directly off exchange data.
