Fibonacci Retracement Calculator
FOREX · FIBONACCI · RETRACEMENT AND EXTENSION LEVELS
Fibonacci retracement and extension prices from a swing high and low, up or down, for any asset: levels to mark on a chart, not a forecast.
Swing direction
Retracement (0% is the high, 100% the low)
Extension (beyond the high)
Levels are a charting convention, not a forecast.
Fibonacci levels as prices
Enter the high and the low of a move and its direction, and this calculator returns the Fibonacci retracement and extension levels as prices you can mark on a chart. It is plain arithmetic on the two prices you type, so it works the same for forex, stocks and crypto.
The ratios come from the golden ratio: 0.618 is the limit of one Fibonacci number divided by the next, and 0.382, 0.236, 0.786, 1.272, 1.618 and 2.618 are its powers and roots. The 50% level is not a Fibonacci ratio; traders add it by habit. The set is a convention of charting platforms, not a law of markets, and a level is a price people watch, not a prediction.
The formula
- Range = high − low
- Up move, retracement r: high − r × range (0% is the high, 100% the low)
- Down move, retracement r: low + r × range (0% is the low, 100% the high)
- Up move, extension r: low + r × range; down move: high − r × range
Worked example
EUR/USD rose from a low of 1.0800 to a high of 1.1000, so the range is 0.0200:
- 38.2% retracement = 1.1000 − 0.382 × 0.0200 = 1.09236
- 61.8% retracement = 1.1000 − 0.618 × 0.0200 = 1.08764
- 161.8% extension = 1.0800 + 1.618 × 0.0200 = 1.11236
Where to go next
Pick a level as an entry, a stop or a target, then check the trade with the Risk/Reward Calculator and size it with the Position Size Calculator. For a full check of a crypto futures setup, use the Pre-Trade Check.

How do I calculate Fibonacci retracement levels?
Subtract the low from the high to get the range. For an up move, each level is the high minus the ratio times the range; for a down move, it is the low plus the ratio times the range. Enter the high, the low and the direction here and the table does it for you.
Which Fibonacci ratios does this calculator use?
Retracements at 0, 23.6, 38.2, 50, 61.8, 78.6 and 100 percent, and extensions at 127.2, 161.8, 200 and 261.8 percent. They come from the golden ratio 0.618 and its powers and roots; 50 percent is not a Fibonacci ratio but is commonly shown.
What is the difference between a retracement and an extension?
A retracement is how much of the move the price gives back, so it sits between the high and the low. An extension projects the move further, past its end, and is used for targets beyond the previous high or low.
Does a Fibonacci level predict where price will turn?
No. The levels are prices many traders watch, which is why they sometimes matter, but nothing guarantees a reaction there. Treat them as reference marks and check any trade with its risk and reward.
Why does an extension show "at or below 0"?
On a steep down move a far extension can land at or under zero, and a price cannot be negative, so that level is not shown as a number.
Does it work for stocks and crypto, not only forex?
Yes. It only uses the two prices you enter, so there is no pair or market to choose.
