How to use the target sell price calculator
- Enter the price you bought at and your buy and sell fees in percent.
- Choose whether your goal is a return in percent or a profit in dollars, and enter it.
- For a goal in dollars, enter the amount invested or the coins bought; for a return it is optional.
- Read the sell price to put your limit order at, and the break-even price.
- Open Show the math to see every step.
Target sell price formula
- Cost per coin = buy price × (1 + buy fee)
- Target return = target profit / total cost (or given directly)
- Sell price = cost per coin × (1 + target return) / (1 − sell fee)
- Break-even sell price = cost per coin / (1 − sell fee)

What assumptions and edge cases does this calculator use?
Each fee is a percent of the trade, at most 5%: the buy fee is added to the cost, the sell fee comes out of the sale. Amount invested means total cash spent, buy fee included. Prices can be in any currency and results come back in it. A target return does not depend on the size of the trade; a target in money needs the amount invested or the coins bought, and you give one of the two, not both. A negative target gives a stop price below break-even. A return of -100% or lower, or a loss target as large as the whole cost, would need a price of zero or less, so it is refused. A buy price of zero or below is refused. Not covered: taxes, slippage, withdrawal or network fees, currency conversion, leverage and funding.
At what price do I sell to make 20% after fees?
Sell price = buy price × (1 + buy fee) × (1 + 20%) / (1 − sell fee). Bought at $100 with 0.1% fees each way, you sell at 100 × 1.001 × 1.2 / 0.999 = $120.24, not $120.
How do I get a dollar profit instead of a percent?
Choose a profit goal and enter the amount invested or the coins bought. The calculator turns the dollar goal into a return on your cost and solves for the price.
Can I use a negative target?
Yes. A negative return gives a stop price: the price at which you lose that share of your cost after fees. A return of -100% or lower is refused: it would ask for a price of zero.
What does a target of 0 give?
The break-even sell price: the price where selling returns exactly what you paid, after both fees.
Is this the inverse of the Crypto Profit Calculator?
Yes. Crypto Profit takes a sell price and returns the profit; this takes the profit you want and returns the sell price. Putting the answer back into Crypto Profit returns your target.
